What spraying does
With automatic spraying, the robot lays down a fine mist in front of its pads by itself, then wipes. You do not have to spray the glass by hand between two passes. On large panes, that is what you notice most.
Several systems
Some models spray with ultrasound. Others have double spraying. One alternates spraying and wiping. Each product page names its system: compare them against the size of your glass.
What it does not change
Spraying does not replace a quick wipe with a microfibre cloth in the corners and where the robot stops. Use clean pads, demineralised water and a few drops of glass cleaner, and fill the tank before each cycle. Wash in the shade when you can: in the sun, the glass dries too fast and can keep marks.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between ultrasonic and double spraying?
In both cases, the robot wets the glass for you. Ultrasonic spraying lays down a fine mist; double spraying is a system specific to some models, described on their page.
What liquid goes in the tank?
Demineralised water with a few drops of glass cleaner. For any other product, follow the model's manual.
Do I fill the tank before every cycle?
The tank empties as the robot cleans. Fill it before you start and check it between two panes. Its capacity is given on the product page.
Does spraying prevent streaks?
Not on its own. In the sun or on very dirty glass, marks can appear. Wash in the shade, with clean pads, and keep a cloth for the stopping point.
