How to choose your window cleaning robot

A window cleaning robot does the bulk of the work on large glass surfaces and hard-to-reach windows: picture windows, upstairs windows, French doors. For about ten small windows within easy reach, a squeegee is still faster: we'd rather tell you so.

Suction

It is what holds the robot on the glass. Our models are rated at 5,600 Pa according to the manufacturer, enough to work indoors as well as outdoors.

Spraying

A robot that dampens the glass itself (automatic or ultrasonic spraying) scrubs less on dry glass and saves you from spraying the pads by hand.

Safety

A backup battery to keep the suction on during a power cut, a safety rope attached inside, edge detection: look at these three points before anything else if you are thinking about outdoor use.

Pad shape

Round pads rotate and scrub hard, but leave a small area in the corners. Plan on a wipe with a microfibre cloth in the corners and where the robot stops.

Is a window cleaning robot really worth it?
Yes if you have large windows, upstairs windows or ones out of reach: it does the bulk of the work while you get on with something else. For a few small windows within easy reach, a squeegee is faster.
Does it leave marks?
It does the bulk of the work, but not the finishing touches: a wipe with a microfibre cloth where it stops and in the corners. Clean in the shade, with demineralised water and a few drops of window cleaner.
What if it falls?
Our robots have a backup battery that keeps the suction on during a power cut, and a safety rope to attach inside before every outdoor use.
Can it clean the outside of the windows?
Yes, with the safety rope attached to a fixed point inside, and staying nearby during the cycle.
Does it work on a conservatory?
On vertical windows, yes. For a glass roof or a horizontal window, check on the model's product page that it is designed for inclined surfaces.
